UA-32958639-1

There are new laws' & Regulations that came into force from the 1st January 2005. Which I will be putting on this site shortly.

WARNING: electricity is dangerous, before touching any part of the fixed wiring in your home, turn off the power supply at the mains switch, So you can be sure no current is flowing anywhere in the premises. If not sure Call your local electricial contractor.

When was your wiring last checked ?

You should have it checked every ten years, ave it checked by a qualified electrician. check for fraying of the sheathing of the outer cable, also check for tinting of the copper wire (green in colour). If you still have steel cable in the house it should be replaced as soon as possible. Your consumer unit should be a split load unit fitted with E.L.C.B's (Earth Leakage circuit Breakers). ie; If your lights trip at night you can use a table lamp to see where you are going, if your sockets trip you still have the lights to see where you are going.

Make sure your local contractor is NICEIC or JIB approved

There are other things to take into account when rewiring your house or any appliance ie; The gauge of cable to use on the right appliance.
